A True "Dumb Blonde" Joke
Most of us have seen these jokes posted on the forum, but this just happened a few minutes ago, and I have to share it:
My wife and I were leaving a local restaurant after dinner, and a blonde in a Sebring convertable, top down, alone, parks in the space next to us.
As we we were getting into our car, this person pressed the lock button on her remote, the lights flashed and the horn beeped, and she looked back at the convertible to make sure it was locked. With the top down.
My wife and I laughed all the way home!

Sounds about right to me. The point of alarms isn't to keep five-finger addicts from lifting a CD or the Juicy Fruit. It's to stop theft of the car, by presenting a warning, disabling the fuel delivery. Convertibles gain from an alarm system in the same way as any other car. BTDT ... and it works, even with the top down.

I used to have a convertible and it came with an alarm. It had a sensor that would detect anybody reaching in. Also activating the alarm would engage an ignition lock, disabling the vehicle preventing amateur thieves from stealing the car.

Exactly right. The alarm performs the same function, top up or down. Mine is a motion detector, which will sound if someone disturbs the programmed area. In fact, it makes more sense to use with the top down as no window will be broken when the thief runs off because of the alarm.

I was leaving 4wheelparts today after dropping $8k on my truck. I'm sitting at a stop light, watch a jeep roll through, and a 35" tire/wheel rolling the opposite way. It speeds across the intersection and slams into a Ford Explorer. I look in the direction the wheel came from, and see a parked Silverado missing the left front wheel, with the guy trying to change it in shock. Hold onto your tires haas! He wasn't blonde, but he sure was stupid.

On my convertible, locking the doors also locks the trunk, which automatically unlocks when the doors are unlocked. So, I always lock the car even when the top is down. Ditto what every one else has sais about the alarm...
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

Some convertible owners keep the tops down figuring that anyone who wants in will cut through the top anyway. If I'm going to lose the CDs in my back seat anyway I'd certainly rather not get the top ruined.

That reminds me of the dumb blonde that tried to blow up her car...
She burned her lips on the tailpipe.
