Neighbor had a bad guy hiding in her backyard lastnight
My neighbor, a very nice lady who we are very thankful to have as our neighbor, told me just a few minutes ago that lastnight, a burglar, who tried to break into another home on our street, was hiding in her backyard. Her dogs, two Irish Setters, were barking and she thought they needed to go outside so she let them out. This was all at 3am.
She said she heard them barking even louder and growling and then her something/someone hit her fence and when she grabbed a flashlight and looked, there was a part of her fence knocked down and her dogs were gone. Apparently, they were chasing the scumbag and he had knocked the fend down on his way out of the yard.
The cops were there very fast as they were looking for this scumbag already from the break in attempt. The scumbag got away by the way.
She said she thought about calling me but only after everything was over. She asked if next time, if there is a next time, her dogs act like that if she could call me to check things out. I told her that I would welcome that and in fact I was a bit miffed that she had not called even after everything was over. I could have had a crook trying to get into my house and I would have appreciated the heads up. She told me that she will call next time no matter what.
I wish she would have called, we all think we know who it was, a little neighborhood scumbag 18 year old who the word from the kids in the subdivision, is selling ecstasy out of his grandmothers house. I would have liked to have been able to hold him until the cops got there.
We are all on the look out for the little creep now. I will call the police every time I see him do anything even remotely wrong. We need this kid gone. He's still a minor, 16 or 17 years old, but has been to juvenile court several times already. Expelled for having drugs at school last year.
Looks like all of us neighbors have to close ranks and be on the look out for this little scum.

Hopefully he'll turn up at the hospital later with an infected bite or two on his leg.

We had a few kids like that in my old CA neighborhood. They would walk around all day in a group of 2-5 just "up to no good". My 10 year old son told me that they tried to take his bike one day when he was out front but ran off when they heard me open the door to the garage. Bad parenting IMO.

Exactly the right response.....call the cops and release the dogs!
I'll echo Jay, are the dogs ok?

Can you really put a price on a good dog?

How can you guys just think about the dogs?
I call that heartless...
What about the fence? Can it be easily repaired?
Stay armed...
...stay safe!

I'm waiting for the reply where someone will bemoan the existence of drug laws. Why this poor misunderstood kid would be studying math if it weren't for all those evil drug laws. Oh, I forgot, add, It's no business of yours what I do if I'm not hurting others.

The dogs came back. No harm done to them.
And the fence was repaired that morning. All is back to normal.

I sure hope that all is not back to normal for the gremlin - I hope he can't sit down or walk properly for a very long time, but of course I mean that in the kindest possible way.
Darn shame she didn't have a few pit bulls or dobies, though.
