My wife stunned me yesterday.
For background let me tell you a bit about my wife. She and her family are originally from California, though she's lived in Texas or Louisiana most of her life. Growing up, her family was not against guns, but they were not avid shooters/hunters by any means. I think they owned a .22 single shot rifle, and shot it a couple of times.
When I met her in college, she immediately got the opportunity to shoot a variety of guns. She was willing, and did okay, but never got into shooting in a big way. Though still not really a "shooter" she is pro-2A, and is very supportive of me CCW. She CCW also, though she complains it makes her purse heavy (No need to go there, I know, I know about purse carry).
Anyway, now to the gist of the story. Yesterday we were all finally able to get together and celebrated my belated birthday. She gave me a medium sized box that was gift wrapped and asked me to guess what's in it. I typically guess accurately enough to aggravate her :image035: so we make it into a quiz game. This package felt very much like it was full of shirts and pants.....so that's what I guessed. She said it was not clothes, but that it was something I could wear.. So I asked, "Where would I wear this?" and she said pretty much anywhere you'd like . I unwrapped this package and it was the type of thin white box that clothes tend to come in. I opened it up and it was full of bubble wrap and padding. Within all of that was a blue plastic box which contained a NIB Sig 239 DAK SAS. I about fell out. :king:
I had been talking about getting a 239 and have been waffling between getting a 9mm or .40 and then trying to decide whether I wanted the DAK or SA/DA. I just couldn't decide. My SIL knew I had been talking about this and told her what I had talked about mostly. She went to "my gun store", told my friend (the owner) what I wanted, he ordered it, she filled out the paperwork and they conspired to keep it a secret from me. She surprised me with it yesterday.
WHAT A SWEET SHOOTING GUN. I had been reading about it here on this forum and reading where others had bragged on it......ya'll are correct. I was worried whether I'd like the DAK, especially since my other three Sigs are SA/DA but this DAK is very nice. We had a great time shooting it yesterday. It ran perfectly right out of the box, never a FTF/FTE or anything. Easy to shoot accurately.
This gun is a keeper, and my wife is a keeper too, of course I already knew that after being married for 33 years.
