In the early 70's around 1971 or 72 there was a bank robbery in london IIRC my dad was stationed at upper heyford england at the time,anyways a bobby was chasing one of the robbers when the BG turned and fired a sawed off shotgun killing the cop,they had the robbers picture plastered on every front page newspaper everyday til they found the guy.The guy was holed up in a room and knew if he left he wouldn't last 30 seconds before somebody spotted him,In fact I think the last name was Sewell.The sad thing is they still felt that there was no need to issue beat cops guns as they could use verbal skills to diffuse most situations or thunk ya on the head with their club

I really don't get that mentality at all. Let's see if I get this right.
BG running from Cops (no matter the nation) for something he "allegedly" did. Cop yells, "Stop!" BG keep running. Cop yells, "Stop, you don't want to do this, you are better than that but have never been told so or hugged by your Dad!" BG spins around and plugs the Cop. And the next day they still have not armed their Police, who are on the streets with a cop killer loose and who knows what other like minded knuckleheads.
Where are they missing the logic in arming their ENFORCERS of the law?
