I went out hunting twice this year because of various reasons and got this little fella the second time. One for two ain't bad eh? Got him with my favorite gun, Winchester Model 94, 30-30 open sights... man I love that gun. Well he's not a trophy or anything but a real nice 8 point.

Do you hunt around Southern MI Bud? I'm lucky because we own a lot of land but all our land butts up to DNR land so there's a lot of acreage to hunt and most of the local hunters do a good job with management. That guy is the four or fifth biggest buck on our property I saw but never got a shot at a MONSTER 10 point earlier that day. Never hunted southern MI but would love to get over to maybe Hillsdale area they have some big fella's down there so I hear.
Naw i hunt up toward Mio
They have some real big ones down in deter/pickney area also but i dont hunt down there to many sound shooters on the state land
Lucky SOB, I have hunted almost everyday since the season has started and have yet to see a buck, I have seen 19 does, and early Muzzle I saw nothing, now regular season is over this week is late muzzle, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
If I don't get anything this year it will be the first year since I started hunting that I haven't got anything.
i think ill have to go up for late season for does to fill the freezer man its way to cold for that
I talked to a friend of mine yesterday who said he was taking out another guy out bow hunting this coming weekend because the second guy had never shot a deer. That's way more hard core than me, I like to bow hunt but I don't think I've ever gone out with a bow after gun season was over. That's kind of like shooting a layup if you can dunk.
To cold for my taste ive never been out hunting after nov 30th myself to cold but again ya got to do what ya got to do .. i like to take 2 to fill freezer for me then one for sister
nice, bagged a 3 pt. opening morning. Kinda took some of the fun outta the season.

Weather here and laziness plus work have made be very lax about going out. Much as anything locally folks have been commenting how few they have seen - and so maybe that plus my old back make it less appealing to go ache and freeze :wink: Just had the one excursion so far - very peaceful and pleasant but no deer!
Maybe strap on the 454 a time or two more - force the old bones into action :smile:

I have a fair amount of burger left over from last year, so I'll get a lot of jerky with this one.
