When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

Very good read. One I think I'll have to read several times to fully digest. Very interesting alongside Thomas Paine's The Rights of Man and The Age of Reason.
Thanks, Cap'n!

Great essay - thanks for sharing. I completely agree.

Although she had her faults, as we all do, Ayn Rand was one of the worlds great advocates for the use of reason as the primary tool of cognition and of individual rights. Her essay is a very good and imprtant read.

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier
and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the
service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the
love and thanks of man and woman."

Excellent Read!
Funny how an essay written in 1963 is so profoundly reflective of today...........

Who is John Galt?
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think Ayn Rand was a good writer, but a kook. As a Russian immigrant who enjoyed the craft of writing, who renamed herself as an adult after a male Finnish writer and her last from a Remington-Rand typewriter. (Intellectual Morons, Daniel Flynn)
In that paper she denies God. I know libertarians love her. Also John Galt is her fictional Jesus. I prefer the real thing. Ayn Rand is not a God.
