    Gas Price Shopping

The other day I was getting the "low fuel" light and when I went to lunch I was looking at the prices at all the stations I passed. I decided to fill up when I came back to the office at the station next door. As I was climbing the hill on the way back, a couple miles from my office the engine started to sputter.. quickly I assessed whether I should turn around but there was no station within a couple miles so I kept chugging and made it to the top of the hill. It died right after cresting, I put it in neutral and turned my emergency flashers on.. then I coasted through 2 green lights for about 2 miles and turned in to an open pump to fill up.

I then bought some lottery tickets but didn't win anything.

LOL! I used to never let my tank get lower than 3/4. Lately it's been getting down around half. Thing is......it's cheaper to fill to full when you're a 1/4 low than it is to fill to full when you're half low. Of course one only has to fill twice as much.

Yep, your car doesn't use any more gas when it is full or half full than it does when it is on empty. Well except when your coasting after it has run out of gas. If you bite the bullet and fill up the tank then don't let it get too low you will be better off in the long run.

I don't think any of us go around with only 1 or 2 bullets in our guns do we? Stay prepared.

Oh, and glad you didn't have to push or walk, you used your luck for the day, you should have know better than to buy a lottery ticket.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Wow, with that streak of luck I'm surprised you didn't at least win your money back .

Oh, and where in Texas did you find a hill that would let you coast for 2 miles? Near Austin is the best place I can think of and with the roads in the hill country I wouldn't dare try that.

Maybe there was a 75mph tailwind that day?
