Whoo-Hoo!!! I finally got an interview!!!
As a few people on the forum know, I have been looking for steady employment for a while. I sent my resume out all over the country, and have been following up on things.
The company that I really want to work for is Bovis Lend Lease, they have the contract for overseeing the housing/infrastructure upgrade for the military bases all across the country.
Last Monday I had a call from the senior recruiter asking me if I would be interested in a Quality Control Inspection position on Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, NM. I of course said yes!!! Yesterday (Monday) I got a call from the Senior Superintendent for a phone interview, today I got a call from the Site Superintendent for another phone interview. I have been asked to be in Alamogordo, NM. on Wendsday the 1st of October for a face to face interview with both of the Superintendents!
I'm so excited it's crazy!! But the thanks belong to my God, I'm just in charge of the footwork.

CONGRATS! Sounds like your luck is changing.
I'm sure you know this, but do your best to be calm and casual at the interview - it always goes better when you don't seem super excited, you're less likely to interrupt them accidentally, you'll speak more slowly and confidently, etc... and try to look your best.
Also, do some research on the company, and ask the interviewer some questions - it usually impresses them when you already know a bit of the company history and principals, and it also shows that you're the kind of person that does their homework, and that you really want the job.
Good luck!
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

An update:
I went to the job interview in Alamogordo, and it went great! Two days later I got a e-mail congratulating me and saying they were putting an offer together for me. this week I have been on the phone with the senior superintendent and was told that "officially unofficially" I had gotten the job and should get ready to move. Today at 2:00 I received a call from the same superintendent that they (the CEO) had put a hiring freeze on the company but that he would still be lobbying to get me hired. Ain't that a peach? I'm basically unemployed, my government won't listen to the wishes of the people, the economy is in the toilet and swirling, and I'm irritated and powerless. Sorry for the rant, but I had to get it out.

Good luck...working around military bases...with a government contract...with
"quality control"
...sounds like an oxymoron.

Good luck Flag, hopefully everything works outs for you. I know how it feels to be laid off and unemployed.
I was able to go back to my nuclear power roots (retired Navy nuke) and am now securely employed in an industry that is starting to experience a renaissance. Things look pretty bright for me, and hopefully you will have the same positive outcome.
