Oh I agree with the intent part 100%. I just see how it can be argued in court that the defendent didn't physically touch him, only moved closer. And the prosecutor would talk about the "warm feeling" the officer felt and the odor he smelled before it would become a discussion of whether a fart constitutes physical contact.

Well, it kind of is. It does warn about flamable liquids or gases in the air.
