Have run into MANY for some reason. These stand out in my mind.
Had a drink at a bar in NYC in one of the theaters during intermission with Aurthur Treacher (the butler in the Shirley Temple movies) Very TALL.
Was on stage with David Copperfield to inspect the wall he was going to walk through; told him "I don't know how the hell your gonna' do it". The audience and he laughed and he shook my hand and thanked me for "being so thorough".
Talked to Jack Palance at a McDonalds one dark snowy Pennsylvania evening. We had recieved our food and were starting to eat when this tall gangly looking guy wearing an army field jacket walked up to the counter.,got his food and sat down one booth over facing me. I said"I guess they didn't recognize you, huh?"
He said "Thank god for that!" ...So I just let him alone.
Was on stage with Richard Karn and Debbie Dunning of "HOME IMPROVEMENT" for an Al Borland lookalike contest. Got into a group picture, I'm the one kneeling by Debbies leg! ....Ah, memories.

I guess we should only list the people we actually got to talk with so here is my short list:
Soupy Sales
James Earl Jones
Michael Ansara
John Spencer
Buddy Rich
BB King
Christy McVee (from Fleetwood Mac)
The coolest ones were Rich and McVee.
I got to walk down the street talking with Buddy Rich - not only the worlds best drummer ever, he was really funny.
Christy McVee put on a concert in Charleston, WV and I attended. Fortunately for me, the attendance was so poor that they moved it from the Civic Center to a private club.
Real up close and personal.
I ended up actually standing about 3 feet from her keyboard during the concert. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.
fortiter in re, suaviter in modo (resolutely in action, gently in manner).

Interesting question. How do you define "met"? Is it someone you shook hands with? Then:
Jimmy Carter (before he was president)
Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch
Al Gore
KISS (Rock Group)
Donovan (Singer)
Barry Manilow (Singer)
Uma Thurmann (lives nearby)
Actually know and chatted with for a while:
My Representatives in Congress
Whitey Ford (Yankees), lived next door to a girl I was dating way back when. Threw a few pitches with him!
Pete Seeger (Songwriter)
Danny Kalb (Blues Singer from "The Blues Project" [70's])
Happy and Artie Traum (Musicians)
Anna Gabriel (Daughter of Peter Gabriel)

Lets see......
Met Telly Savalas while staying at the Universal Studios Hotel during a family vacation.
Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow)
Pat Travers (Boom Boom out go the lights)
Jeff Cooper
Clint Smith (Thunder Ranch, 1995)
Ted Nugent
Mary Lou Retton
And finally, Donald Sutherland & Geena Davis while they were filming an episode of "commander in chief" at the biltmore hotel in LA. We were there to see the 2005 Rose Bowl game, and ran into the them the morning after getting coffee.
GO HORNS!

This is an interesting post. I'm surprised no one has met Sarah Palin yet!

Sarah Palin? No but I could have, I helped lay the carpet in the Pentecostal Church in Willow Alaska that she supposedly had prayers over her to protect her from Witches. Must have known I was in town. My brother must have told them it was necessary when he went back to get paid.

Played ball as a kid with George Herman Ruth (got the picture to prove it); met Joe Louis (Pompton Lakes NJ), Sugar Ray Robinson (Greenwood Lake NJ), Vince Martinez (Paterson NJ), John Wayne and Kim Novak (Monterey, CA), played guitar with Pete Seeger (I know, I know - Monterey, CA), Johnny Cash (Japan - he stopped by the EM club while on tour in '62 or '63), Sonny Rollins (Yokohama, Japan - if you remember jazz), Mas Oyama (Yamato - Japan), Sensei Yoshio Kawaguchi (Wado Ryu Sensei - Yokohama), Sensei Ueshiba (Aikido - Yokohama), Fred Thompson (at the Nashville airport on my way somewhere) and others whose names escape me now...strange how time disappears...

John F Kennedy (when I was a boy) He was campaigning, he stopped and rubbed my head, talked to me for a bit, shook my hand & then moved on.
As an adult, the photographer who did the shot with John John under his desk in the Oval office, but cannot now remember his name. Great guy.
Met Willie Mays. That was not a good experience.
Members of Vanilla Fudge and talked a lot with Tim Bogart (bass player) & Mark Stein.
Members of Blue Thing (we played warm up a few times and saw them a lot).
Neil Diamond......... when he was an unknown. Helped him do some sound tests
Johnny Rivers
BB King
Harrison Ford
Garth Brooks , we got to talk for about 2 1/2 hrs about airplanes & music
Saw Kevin Costner at a baseball game, said 'hello' that was it.
Kirstie Alley .... I knew in High School
Sarah Barg, grew up with.... married Glen Campbell and then she married Kris Kristophersen.
Janice Joplin (met her at a bar ... she joined a party we were having & partied for about 4 hrs with us)
But the ONE..... I will never forget ..... EVER...... the "man" .... John Wayne. Got to talk to him for awhile and see his wardrobe in the wardrobe room, & to wear his coon skin hat, when he was filiming the Alamo. I was 8 yrs old. He just chatted a long with me, then had me stay there with him while others came up to talk to him about this or that. He kept me right there. My father tried to get me "out of his way" and John Wayne replied "why don't you leave him with me for awhile".... to my father's shock. He seemed surprised I could name off so many of his movies at that age. I was really impressed with the "man" that I saw, not the movie star side.
