    The possibility of ANOTHER operation...

Went to the Ortho Doc today and he has me coming back from an MRI on the right knee Friday. The same knee that swelled up after my Sheriff buddies goaded me into running with them a few weeks ago. (I whipped their butts, bad knee and all may I remind you)

But after the "high resolution" X-rays they took (I do not know what made them "high resolution") he has already told me he believes I have a meniscus tear and I may need a scope type operation to repair or just clean it out.

Oh goody....another operation on my right knee. That will make 8 I believe. I might make it to double digits by 50!

Meniscal tears can be repaired arthroscopically, using a camera to guide the scraper as it trims the tear. Outpatient day surgery, back to work in a couple of weeks.

My sympathies for your discomfort and the possibility of another operation... but I do want to let you know I'm impressed.

    Total Knee Replacement

When I saw your thread I was afraid that you were having a TKR. My father has had it on both knees back in the mid 90's. With the problems he's had, which is mostly deterioration of the bone under the prosthesis and recurring infection, we're not big fan's of TKR.

I might need a TKR one day, but I assure you I'll try lots of stuff before going that route, it'll be at a last resort.

Good luck on your knee scoping, (that is, if you actually need it done)I think it's great they can do that with little invasion and interruption of your life. Keep us posted.

BTW have you tried the ribs at Rendezvous in Memphis?

The difference between Major and Minor surgery? Minor surgery is what they do on other people!
GOOD LUCK - I personal hate paying people to hurt and cut me but sometimes thjere is no choice.

Guess you won't be doing any more Presidential coverage.

Dang. I had one back in 2000 and it put me out of commission for an entire year. Good luck.
