P95,
You're only as old as you feel...never quit trying to feel young. That's what more than one "old" folks have told me, but they also tell me getting old ain't for sissies either. I guess it's better to have your parts wear out than freeze up from nonuse. Cool toon gun...

Amen to that!!!
Zund - that is awesome - always been thinking how I'd love to get some spin. The inside of Sch 40 pipe is far from smooth of course - all ''rippled'' but that is a very nice rifling considering.
I guess I could make some tooling actually to do just this but it would be quite some work and my cannon is actually, considering smooth bore - pretty good for accuracy. Thx for the pic.

A few years back we used old tennis balls, but ours was made out of steel pop cans duct taped togeather, like you said they almost go out of sight. One more thing I like your igniiton idea n we used lighter fluid also.

I'm waiting to see if Chris starts a thread on a Civil War Rocket, just like the one the Mythbusters made on their program. They made the rocket <which worked well> but it only flew about 500 yds

Episode 40: Confederate Rocket
The American Civil War was fought with bayonets, muskets and cannons. But was that all? Not according to the MythBusters. So Adam, Jamie and the build team join forces to find out if the Confederate Army had a secret deadly weapon — the world's first long-range missile, which according to rumor, was launched from Richmond, Va., and aimed at the White House over 100 miles away.

I've never made a patato gun, but I did make a mini version of one when I was in school that shot flaming wads of paper. Used a soda bottle, straw, duct tape, and a gas grill igniter, and hair spray. Was very cool, got me expelled for 3 days.
