    Making place scary for Halloween?

Fond memories: we had a long covered walk up to the front door, and for Halloween we stapled a fair number of black threads to the underside of the roof and left the passageway lit only by the pumpkin. The threads dangled down just long enough to miss the toddlers but convinced the teenagers that there were lots of spiderwebs. Some of the less stout-hearted never made it to the door...

Anyone have more nice tricks we might wish to consider?

Paymeister's wife here. He was telling me about this while sitting on the edge of the bed, and just as he was telling me about screaming teenage girls the cat walked up behind him and her whiskers touched his elbow.

Have you ever seen a big, macho guy jump out of his skin?

He says he knew the cat was there and just did that for my amusement.

Make a life size dummy, clothe it, some hamburger meat and some ketchup, throw down a couple of spent 12 gauge shells around it on a well lit porch. Do I need to draw a picture? Hopefully your neighborhood is devoid of any stray cats or dogs (otherwise you'll have strays feeding on the brains........might not be a bad thing, depending). Of course the only real thing you'd be lacking are the flies. You can buy fake flies at Wal Mart.

My Dad would dress up like a scarecrow and slump down on the bench that was on the front porch. When kids would ring the door bell, he'd jump up to pass out the candy... a lot of kids took off running leaving him plenty of Reeses for himself.

One year I dressed as Saddam... nobody payed any attention to the AK I was toting around. It was unloaded and inert, but the pearl handled 1911 wasn't Maybe this year I'll be Osama.

I was planning on making more of a political statement this year though.

A chalk outline of a body on the sidewalk, with some candy wrappers spread around.

I remember the funniest thing someone would do in my neighborhood would be dress up in a crazy costume, like a werewolf, or mummy, or grim reaper, and sit completely still on the porch. He would sit there for like 2-3 groups of children, so it wasnt too often, then while the kid was getting candy(usually the older ones) he would LEAP up and go "Boogity boogity" type thing.

    Always funny.
