Maybe I've been thinking about guns too much?

I keep having these weird dreams where I'm forced to shoot in self defense, but my gun does not want to fire. The trigger seems to lock up and not move, or it moves and the gun never goes bang, not even a click. I usually wake up and clear my gun and dry fire it just to make sure it still works LOL!

    Anyone else have similar dreams?

I have not had any similar dreams. I have had dreams of "what to do" if someone comes in uninvited though.

I'm not pretending to be a psychologist, but do you have any buried concerns about the reliability of your gun?

To answer your question, I haven't had any dreams like that. If my gun did fail to fire, hopefully I'd have time to pull another gun.

Do you carry a backup? Seriously, if I kept having those dreams, I'd run my gun through the ringer to stress-test it, or perhaps I'd consider another gun. And I'd CERTAINLY carry more than one gun, which I always do anyway.

Not trying to bash your gun, but if I kept having those dreams, I'd take them as a warning.

Call me paranoid, but I think it's better to act on the dreams and them not have any meaning, than not act when they did have meaning. And you might not know if the dreams are meaningful until you have a life-or-death situation.

I wouldn't ignore them. It might be your sixth sense speaking to you, especially since you keep having the same or similar dreams. Do something until you have confidence in your gun(s), tactics, and/or training, or until the dreams go away (in case you have confidence in all of the above). I'd view them as a warning until proven otherwise.

Odd dreams for a GLOCK owner.

You obviously need help...get to your local gun shop and buy another Glock...two is better than one....that will really help!

That's actually a fairly common dream. Go to the range and practice; see if the dream goes away for a while.

Have had that same kind of dream a couple of times... weird! For me the trigger on my G26 is locked up tight. No matter how hard I press on it it will not work. Glad to see that there are two of us that have issues.

I have no concerns about the reliability of my Glock pistols (17,19, 26) and my XD45 for that matter. I just consider them to be nothing more than dreams. I know my carry gun will go bang if/when I really need it to. Glocks are also easy to detail strip, so I know I'll be able to replace parts as needed.

    Bingo!

According to Dave Grossman, that dream is the subconscious mind making known its concern that YOU ARE NOT READY!!!!

I used to have dreams like that, but that was several thousand rounds ago. Now, they are just about when to properly utilize the gun. Had a dream last night where I actually shot (several times, at more than one threat) in self defense, but I don't remember any details. Any gunfight dream that you wake up out of as the winner is a good one I guess.

Guys, I don't think we can read this much into a dream. I had a dream about orange elephants not too long ago... what does that mean? I have 31 firearms and have fired thousands of rounds myself so I don't think "being ready" is an issue. Don't think all dreams have an explanation myself... and I'm not laying on a leather couch and talking to a man in a sweater vest to get his opinion on them.

Hey, at least I can associate the elephant with the Republican party, right? (I'm really trying to come up with something here to cover myself. ha! Clueless about how the color orange fits in though. )

Orange Elephants? most people see Pink ones, perhaps you are drinking to much of the wrong thing.

I used to have dreams of my pistol failing. I stoped having them after 2 of my spare magazines failed at the range and I replaced them.

I hade a few dreams about my home being broken into. Everytime I would wake up in a cold sweat. I would then get up and check all my doors. It all started cause I did have someone try to get in the back door about 8 months ago.
