The kid and I went out after pheasant today, he got a hen (his first) and I got a rooster:

    Not too bad.

    Nicely done!!

If every father and son (or daughter for that matter) spent quality time together like you two obviously do, the world would be a better place!

Yup. The state stocks the birds on state-owned hunting property. 2 per day per person, 10 for the season.

I just got into it last year, but I really enjoy it. The kid flushed one right away this morning, it startled him and by the time he could swing the shottie the hen was too far away. I asked him what happened, and he said the bird scared the crap outta him when it took wing.

First bird almost always does that to me too. Tell him not to feel bad, I've been pheasant hunting 15 years now.

...and the typical dinner would be both cheaper and tastier!
