Would you run for political office?

I am not by nature a political animal. I don't lie well, I seek the best for everyone and I am not that articulate. Plus I tend to just want to bulldoze my ideas through.

But some of you may not be as inept as I am. Have you ever thought about running for a political office...especially now?

Too many skeletons in the closet for me to run, although I would like to. Also I am not the world's greatest debater. And on a national level, you have to move to Washington. I had quite enough of the DC area, when I went to George Washington University, where I got my degree. Great school, and I'll always be a diehard Redskins fan. But if I never have to go back to DC again, it would be too soon.

I'm working on learning how to do so. I plan on running for my town council in a couple of years. It'll be a long hard fight and I'll probably never make it as a politician, but someones got to try.

It's hard becoming a politician. It costs so much money and you have to know the right people. For those of us who are just regular people who just want the government to run the way it was intended, it's almost impossible.

So if you happen to be in AZ in a few years when/if my name ever comes up on any ballots, VOTE FOR ME!

I'm not the political type, so no I couldn't run for any leadership roll. I'm more of a follower.

I don't lie, cheat or steal, I won't compromise if it takes lying/cheating/stealing to achieve, and I don't operate well in dens of snakes (fully-rigged systems) either. I'd be apoplectic by day #60 and dying of suffocation by day #100, I'm certain. That effectively eliminates this as even an avocation. I'll back and work hard to assist competent, thoughtful, honorable people with intent-to-avoid-buggery-and-skullduggery. That's about as close as I can get without being a detriment to the post.

In short: dereliction by committee doesn't appeal to me.

I've thought about running for local office, like Town Council. I think we are VERY fortunate to live in a country where we actually have a chance to shape political policies.

Well, since truth, honesty and integrity have no place in politics I doubt I'd do very well.

If people actually wanted those values I'd give it a try. Range time with the secret service could be fun

I was asked to begin a career of sorts with a run for school board but decided against that. I was content to sit on the school site council for 6 years while my children attended k-8. I have always worked volunteer community committees where I get the most satisfaction. In fact during my last stint our BOD succeeded by receiving 100k from a grant request for sport field improvements. Beyond that I have no desire to run for any office.

Running for local positions has crossed my mind. I can do that without compromising my values.

    Maybe....

No Skeletons but maybe a few random old bones here and there.

I don't have the temperment. When talking about issues important to me, I tend to get passionate and loud and come accross as just a tad bit WACKO!!!!!

I have a hard time sugar coating my statements.

On issues that matter, I haven't learned that trick myself, either. C'est la vie.
