    Contract extended...

Well, it started as an 8-week assignment, but now I'm out here in California until the end of March or May! I'm not complaining, mind you, especially with the economy tanking, but I didn't pack for the winter! It's a good thing I'm going home for the holidays. I can ferry winter clothes.

I've found a brand new gun shop, just down the street, here in Mountain View. Nice folks. I can't get anything, out here, though, without a California ID.

Now that I have a regular paycheck, I had planned on getting my Supernova, this fall, but Benelli says they are backlogged at least 60 days. I've got a model 20155 on order, working through a shop in VA, and they've said they will hold it for me until I can get home to pick it up in the spring. Good people. I'm going to go ahead and order my mag extension and shotshell sidesaddle through this new local gun shop to steer some business to them.

This is my first full-time job since my transplant, last November, and it feels really good to be working, again.

You've got that right. These folks came pretty unhinged around the election! My work has me in Palo Alto, which has an average personal income that is twice the national average. Not surprisingly, this area is a weird blend of liberal and conservative. I've actually run into a lot of closet conservatives out here. My programmer is from Oregon, and a green activist, but he also recently bought a Weatherby 30.06 for hunting!
