Accidental shooting kills Ghent man, 47
GHENT — A Columbia County man was killed on Thanksgiving Day by an accidental gunshot, authorities said.
Robert Taylor, 47, of 433 Route 9, Ghent, died as a result of the shooting, Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison Jr. said. Other family members at home at the time were not injured, he said.
Police received a 911 call of the shooting shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Authorities did not say who was handling the gun at the time of the shooting. The investigation is continuing.
==============================================
I know this story is full of holes, so to speak, but I dont understand how this can be an "accidental" shooting inside someone's home. Someone's finger had to be on the trigger of a loaded gun, and pull it. How is that an accident?
I can see possible scenarios of accidental shootings, but this one appears to be stupidity, not an accident, or negligence.
If any new follow-ups come out, I'll post them.

Wow, that's some of the worst reporting ever documented. Let us know if they release any more details.

Here's an update, although it's not much better:
Columbia County 911 summoned sheriff's deputies to 433 County Route 9 for a report of a man who suffered a gunshot wound November 27 at 11:36 a.m., according to a press release from Columbia County Sheriff David W. Harrison Jr.
Deputies Scott Leggett and Heath Benansky went to the scene, as did the Philmont Rescue Squad.
Deputies discovered that Robert C. Taylor, 47, of that address, was shot when a handgun accidentally went off. He died at the scene.
Mr. Taylor's family members at the residence at the time were not hurt.
Coroner Angelo Nero, the sheriff, investigators, the Incident Scene Investigation Unit and Livingston State Police also went to the scene.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday. The investigation is continuing.

Yep, you squeeze the trigger it accidentally goes off, or maybe it was one of those terrible black assault pistols that just decide on their own to shoot someone! Maybe in the after life, when someone tells Mr Taylor they want the turkey leg, he'll give it to them.
Just another case of someone killed because of stupidity.
