"When the people fear the government you have tyranny...when the government fears the people you have liberty."

A zombie is like whats in "night of the living dead", and is used as generic term for the end of the world, SHTF, etc.
I contest that the "zombies" are the dumbed down Americans who dont give a hoot about whats happening to our country. The ones who would rather read about the goofy lives of movie stars instead of paying attention the the fleecing of our country, hence my sig line.

I believe it is a general reference to the world being invaded by zombies. A zombie is a walking dead.

I may be mistaken, if I am guys jump in and correct my error. I think the zombie reference got it's start with the movies that used zombies as the antagonist/s. Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead etc. They started out as slow, dim- witted undead with a penchant for cannibalism. The living being their choice of table fare. Now in most modern pictures they seemed to have become alot peppier/smarter for walking corpses. They are used as a reference for just being prepared for disasters man-made or other wise, if I understand the frame of reference correctly.
This is my take:
Zombie & Zombie Invasion is an analogy of those who are prepared vs those who aren't. Your standard zombie is a slow moving creature but a danger to all. Yet we see in the movies that Unprepared Condition White Living people refuse to acknowledge the danger or are dumb enough or unprepared enough to deal with them. Those prepared are just having lots of fun taking headshots and reloading more ammo in the downtimes while saying I TOLD YOU SO!
A more "modern" version would be the movie Tremors and The Gummers vs the Graboids.
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

I agree with all of the above on the zombie definition. It can be pretty broad. I'll add another one based on the "real world"; someone high on drugs, or in a bad need for a fix and trying to break in my house is a zombie
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME.
I agree with the other posts. Zombie is a brain eating undead human and also an analogy that can be broadly applied from the living lacking their own brains to the end of the world and whatever comes from it.

Zombies, basically slang on here for whatever major threat we have or haven't imagined. That's my take anyway.
(although the brain eating kind would make for an interesting day?)

my fav. line from those movies...
