Illinois Governor In Federal Custody
At around 6 Am. this morning Illinois Govenor Rod Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff John Harris were taken into custody by the FBI. The Govenor was taken into custody at his Chicago home.
It should be interesting to watch this one play out. Maybe former Govenor George Ryan will intervene. Opp's, I forget he's in prison too.

Not much news on the web about this yet, which surprises me. I guess the story is too new.
The US Atty won't confirm the report, but someone else is out there saying they pulled the trigger on the investigation so Obama's senatorial successor isn't the product of (overt) corruption (I'm guessing governors appoint replacements for senators who resign or move on to other things during their terms).
Big news.

I guess the whole country is going to learn all about Illinois style politics real soon.

What else do you expect from one of Mayor Daley's boys? Chicago is and has been a corrupt cesspool that has overflowed and covered the rest of the state for more years than I have been around. Until the people of Chicago and the state of Illinois find their backbone and overthrow him nothing will ever change.

What?! Corruption in Illinois politics?! Inconceivable!!!
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

Why do you keep using that word? I don't think that word means what you think it means.

All I'm seeing is the CLINTON II administration.
I hated the CLINTON I administration, and I hate to see what CII brings me. I'll probably be paying high taxes and broke again. Crime is going to go up, make no mistake about it. As the economy worsens the crime levels will rise.
As far as corruption in Chicago, they don't know any other way. I'm happy to see the Guv'ner being treated like he should've been treated for years. Maybe Daley will be next, one can hope.
The sad thing is, we now have a Chicago politician in the White House. It's going to be a long four to eight years. I just hope the damage is repairable in the future.

I was just reading about this on Yahoo. Seems a couple of other former Ill state governors are ex-cons as well. Should we be surprised?

Chicago/Illinois politics is a giant cesspool, if you want to play you have to jump in with both feet and join the party.
