I think I use correct grammar most of the time. It's a good thing y'all can't hear me talk, I've got a real ignorant red neck accent. That said, my son is bringing home grammar homework in the third grade. This is stuff I didn't do until high school. And if I had grammar the whole year instead of halving it against literature, I would have failed. Grammar is simply one thing I can't do competently in a classroom. Literature I can BS my way through on a test, and thank heaven for Cliff's notes.

The crusade for good grammar is a lost cause online. I'd've thought you wouldn't've known it. Would you've?

It's only legit to those that use it! To others, it is just another irritation.
