Bet You've Never seen This Before

I was lucky to find this.
It's dates from the 1950s to (I think) the very early '60s.
And...it's a full, unopened, can too!

Part of my never ending "formulation search" for the absolute ultimate ideal Heavy Duty All Temp Super Duper Slide Rails To Frame Rails Pistol Lubricant.... for my own personal use.

Lots of car transmissions got pregnant when folks added this oil in back then.

Yes, Chrysler really did use Sperm Whale Oil in their '50s Transmissions.
It was THE BEST (bar none) Hi~Performance Transmisson Oil for Hi~Performance vehicles and race car "break in" transmission oil.
Then the "whale oil ban" kicked in & the search was on for a suitable synthetic oil.

This is an extremely RARE item in unopened, full 16 OZ can.
Just thought ya might want to see it.

Wha? Is that really, really real?

About the most exotic I found was a Ford model T wrench.
Hey, I was digging in dad's warehouse and found a 1925 Model T pickup. (Grandpa restored it when I was a kid, and now it sits in dad's warehouse.)

QK - you ol' packrat you!!

But - glad this stuff is being kept safe tho - it is history for sure. I used to have in UK, some real old motor oil cans - they were pint, and that cardboard sorta container with metal top and bottom. Top had a rip-off aluminum strip.

I had to draw the line at what I brought over back in 2000 so - they got left. I just hope someone preserved them.

Not Too Much Of This Around

That is what I told anyway.
The reason being...that it quite a while for a suitable replacment synthetic additive to be found so lots of folks that were serious "car & car repair" and "rebuild" folks snatched this stuff up & used near 'bout all of it up. This was a lucky find.

Very cool, QK! I worked with a guy that had a qt can of whale oil for GM vehicles. It is definitely a conversation starter.
