Looks like a very large bomb went off, doesn't it? Two houses and serveral cars completely demolished, hopefully the homes were unoccupied at the time.

I'm a construction mgr and will print and post these in my office. Are you sure this was excavated? It almost looks like a main line failure. I dont see any remnants of the backhoe or trackhoe at the site. If it was an excavated fracture, the guy on the equipment must have crapped his pants just before he caught fire. WOW!

Digging at that exact spot wasn't such a hot idea. Got to remember to take accurate measurements and lots of photos. I suppose it's too much to assume the poor sod got away with only fried eyebrows.
