Speer Gold Dots - Only $102.45 A Box

Yesterday was a nice day for February in Montana, so the missus & I decided to take a drive to a little burg on the Flathead Indian Reservation, about 60 miles south. There's a sporting goods store in this town with a great gun department. I bought my Colt Commander there 2 years ago.

About halfway there, a side road intersects the highway from the right. The main highway at this point is a gentle left hand curve. A red Dodge 3/4 ton pickup that we had been following for several miles signaled his intention to turn right onto the side road. There was no oncoming traffic, so I swung over the double yellow line to pass him, and failed to notice the Montana Highway Patrol cruiser parked on the shoulder.

Yep, he pulled me over, had me dead to rights, no contest. Cost me $85.00 for a no passing zone violation. Paid the fine on the spot, done deal. Very courteous & professional young Trooper, BTW. He carried a Glock.

We got to the gun store all right and browsed around, but there was nothing in the showcase that I couldn't live without. I had to buy something, so I grabbed the only box of Speer Gold Dot .45 ACP 230 grain HP ammo on the shelf for $17.45.

$85.00 ticket + $17.45 box of ammo = $102.45. I guess I'll have to claim a record for the most expensive ammo I ever bought!

That does come high on the ammo cost list - but I recall a guy who went on his trip to check out the gun store - only problem was he wrecked, bigtime. Truck totalled.

End of day - no guns extra, no ammo - just a ride home courtesy of AAA and a big hassle to sort out his insurance etc!
