We have four cats that we adopted and they all have excellent personalities and disposition. It almost seems they know they were at "death's door" at one time and now seem grateful to have a good home and life ahead of them.

We've been talking about getting a dog also. We've had them in the past, just happened to be without a dog right now.

BTW what happened to the kitty? I think he was orange in color?

    Good to hear!!

My wife and I don't live far from her parents, so she still goes over to visit "her" (sister's) puppy (13yo). We had talked about adopting a second dog, but I had assumed we'd be waiting for her (sister's) pup to pass on. Last week she started asking "so I know we're looking at pound pups, but what main type of dog do you think you want?" What!? Really!?? hmm.....

A house is not a home without a dog. It's a great feeling to be greeted by a dog when you get home from a hard day.

Remember, dogs are better than kids because they:
    (1) eat less,
    (2) don't ask for money all the time,
    (3) are easier to train,
    (4) normally come when called,
    (5) never ask to drive the car,
    (6) don't smoke or drink,
    (7) don't want to wear your clothes,
    (8) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
    (9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
    (10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ...

I miss having a dog also. I was working so much overtime that I didn't want to get one, but now I am on regular hours, so I have been thinking about getting another one. I had 11 GSD at one time, 8 were puppies, that I sold.

Bless you. Don't pick the dog, let him adopt you. My two current dogs are older rescues. No home is complete without a pup or two.

    Congrats Sixto.

Petfinder.com is a great resource to find animals that need adopting, searchable by breed, etc.
