    SIXTO!
I always had dogs when I was a kid, I now have a lab that is my best friend. Adopting a dog is a good way to go.

To answer a few questions; I still have Joe the cat. That darned critter is something else. He hides in the basement for what seems like days on end, and only pops out to annoy me or knock over my water glass. Sometimes he hops in the shower with me too. He has a short circuit somewhere, but we like him anyway.

Petfinder... yup, I've been cruising that site all day. I'm (she) leaning towards a American Bulldog mix of some sorts. Being honest with myself, I think she finally gave in because I work evening hours and she liked the extra level of security our past dogs gave her. She hated the mess that my GSD made, but loved the fact the he was built like a truck, well trained, and wouldn't back down from anything to protect his home and family. I'm thinking I can get the same with the ABD without all the hair.

I'm making some phone calls in the AM, and hopefully will go take a look at a few on Sat. I don't want to rush it in my excitement, I want the right dog for us, not just a dog.

    QKShooter,

My female GSD will do the same thing with a tennis ball. I swear she is trying to learn the Jedi Mind Trick to make it move.

Only commies don't love dogs. As a kid, we always had a pack of beagles for rabbits and some house dogs. Any stray was welcome.

    Isn't that the truth?

I never trust anyone who doesn't like dogs. I figure there's something wrong in their head.

I have two jumping Jack Russels. They have energy to spare. Chalk it up to temporary insanity.

Should have got the three-legged dog at the pound.

Well, I've made my selections. I'm sitting here waiting for the rescue group people to stop by and check out my house and to meet the dogs. Hopefully, I'll have a new dog this evening.

Sixto --- if these don't work out, check around your area to see if there are any "cell dog" programs. I know several people who have adopted dogs that have been through these programs and they have been great. Prisoners get training with the dogs, and the dogs learn how to be better pets. When it comes time for me to adopt another dog, I will be looking at a cell dog, that's for sure!
