Great news for my house!
As some may know, I've been dog less for about 8 months now. Thats the longest I've ever gone without a dog, and its been killing me. My wife didn't want a dog after our last died suddenly in a freak accident.
Its killing me because I have kids, and I'm of the opinion that every kid needs a dog.
So, today she calls from work and says she'd like to adopt an older dog. Its going to be a good weekend.

I grew up with dogs, I have always loved them. My fiance is allergic though, but she loves them as well. So I think we are going to have to figure something out. Hopefully we can get a house decent enough for a fenced in area so he isn't inside.

People need dogs, not just kids.
We recently got a new one, a couple years after our last got too old and was put down. Keeps us busy, and provides an extra pair of eyes and ears--especially when we are sleeping.

Sounds like a pretty decent weekend plan. I want a dog, but apparently they aren't allowed in the barracks...

I don't know what kind... to be honest, I really don't care. I want a dog the kids will enjoy and thats about it. Since we are going the adoption route, it will probably be a Heinz 57 type. Our best dog was a mutt we picked up from the shelter when we first got married many moons ago.
He was a sweet dog, and she misses him the most of all our dogs.

IMHO stay away from the Sooner breed? What is a sooner you ask?
Sooner piss on the floor than go outside.
Always best to get a pound dog. Better than any Foo-Foo dog any day of the week. I think they understand that they get a second chance at love. A little food and little water and little love and you truely have mans best friend.

Every kid need a dog. That includes this kid at heart who is in reality an old fart. Unfortunately my wife is allergic to dogs.
