why you should always carry with one in the chamber. . .

so i was walking our fence line today, to see if there was any new hog action in our back 30 acres of field, in the past there have been alot of hogs rooting and basically destroyed our back field. well im wandering along the fence not really paying attention, and the next thing i know there is a huge hog about 30 feet in front of me. i immediately draw my glock 27 i had on my hip, aim and pull the trigger. . . . CLICK. . . . . oops. guess i forgot to chamber a round after last nights cleaning session. so i quickly rack the slide take aim and hit him square in the side of the head. he falls over, dead. now i got me a brand new 200lb-ish hog that needs cleanin. . . anyone wanna help? lol

    moral of my story :
ALWAYS check you got a round in the chamber before you go out. could have been a VERY bad day, had the situation been different.

That is why It is a good idea to press check your weapon before holstering, push back on the slide enough to see the brass/nickel case in the chamber,if you make it a habit then hopefully if you ever need it you don't hear click when you really wanta hear bang.

Carrying an unloaded weapon by accident? That's rough.

Glad it worked out okay for you, and that is definitely not a lesson to forget.

Even if you don't have a loaded chamber indicator you can run your fingertip over the extractor and feel if its raised a bit to indicate a round in the chamber.

    I hope you got some.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.

After dressing it out you should have more than 3 days of bacon there. Save some for me, I'm on the way.

If it's a feral hog, bring gasoline. After the hog has burned awhile, eat the gas can.
