I've been seriously considering buying a Hi-Point 9mm. I read reviews from owners who have had the comments I'm seeing repeated here as well. I'm trying to get my younger brother to consider keeping one of the 9mm HP's as a gift. If he doesn't want the HP I'll keep it myself!

My brother knows that I have guns but he still hasn't taken an interest in having one in his home. I've took him to the range with me a few years ago and he loved firing my gun at the time. I know he wants to shoot guns but having one in your own home is something entirely different.

If that Hi Point is the same weapon I handled several years ago, heck no! It could be the most reliable weapon on earth but it is heavy as a car.

I've read that the Hi Point is a tad top heavy. But I'll work with my younger brother on that aspect of that model gun.

It's not a price thing with me Sixto. I don't live in an area where there are gun stores that let you test fire, and the largest retailer doesn't carry Hi-Point so I would have to order one from my FFL sight unseen and hope for the best. I just dropped mucho dinero on a fireproof/waterproof gun safe this week so the Hi-Point may have to wait another month. If it is a keeper it will sit on the shelf with the other winners (PPS, Glock, XD, Ruger, S&W, ect...) but if it turns out to be a functional dog it will sit on the bottom shelf with all the AK mags.

You've convinced me! I'm buying one for my brother! If he doesn't like the gun I'll keep it for myself.

Best case scenario he'll accept it with my best intentions. Even better, hopefully he'll apply for a NV CCW permit. If not, I'll add it to my collection.

    Either way, it's a win-win scenario!

    Ugly Gun

    The Liberator pistol.

When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

Thanks for the link! The psychology behind their proposed use is very interesting. I've always wondered if I'd have the gonads to be part of a resistance movement, and in deadly danger.

Nope, no gonads on this body.

Yes, ugly would be hearing *click* when you expected *boom*. Let us all never have to face that scenario.
