    love the wife, but...

so the wife has said that with our tax return i can buy a new pistol. i was going to buy a kimber, but then with MI residency requirements, I couldn't. now, i realize I can and ask the wife about it again...we have a good amount of $ coming in from various sources and are having our large wedding ceremony and reception in may (did a small family ceremony on Christmas day). now, when i ask her, she says she wants me to wait!!!! ARGH!!!!

She says I can buy one, then when I have a chance to, says I can't because she's worried about the $$!!!! FRUSTRATING!

With the economy such as it is right now, I would save the money. And I do mean save it, not fritter it away. The only thing I know about the future is that it will happen. Having a cash buffer is always a good thing. Right now, it is a very good thing.

I hate to be the voice of reason, but if money is tight, now is not the time to buy toys. You had said yourself in other threads that yoou have been out of work for some time and just started a new job. Cool your jets dude, you have to have the bills paid first.

Well son, it's time for you to man up!

Look her in the eye and tell her that you're the man of the house and what you say goes. Then, go out and buy whatever it is you want!

Is it easier to ask forgiveness than permission? That would be my advice.

I agree with SIXTO. I'm getting alot back as-well, but I'm also about to retire from the Army. So for now all tax return will be going into savings until I get settled into a new job and after (if necessary) we move. JM2C

Being committed to an institution sounds like something that happens to people when they go insane.

But seriously what most of the others said...especially since you're just getting married...meaning new expenses. Don't burn your extra cash. If you want to do something with it, just buy gold, cigarettes and ammo. At least they'll be trade-able when the market finally flushes.
