I'm running through possible scenarios in my head, and all I can think of is that must have been a strange night for you to have said that...

The original (1971) or the remake (2001)? The original like most remakes was a much better movie in my opinion.

The original. The remake was incredibly disappointing and is not worth a second viewing.

I could watch the original every day, but it does something to my TV...makes it blurry or something.

Bet you didn't think it was going to be a documentary, did you?
lol for some reason I keep watching older action movies.

I love older war movies too like "Bridge over the River Kwai" and lots of WW2 films. "Where Eagles dare" is another favorite of mine. My father who is Norwegian, was 12 years old when the Nazi's came and occupied Norway so, I watched a lot of these films with him as he very interested in WW2

I watched Das Boot last week
I have seen that and thought it was good.

I noticed quite a few of you have seen Gran Torino.

Has anyone seen (The Brave One) with Jodie Foster? It came
out about a year ago on dvd.

Its about a lady who is with her fiancee out walking their
dog in a park when they get jumped by some muggers and
    her fiancee/dog both get killed.

She buys a handgun and roams the subways/back streets
of the city trying to get criminals to attack her so, she can
    gun them down.

    Its a pretty good movie.

Just a quick question - I have seen Gran Torino too, and while I think it was a good movie, am I the only person to find the Oriental people's acting very subpar? Especially Toad's.

Taken and I too really liked it. Many years ago SCOTUS defined porn as any movie with 'gratuitous sex and violence" to which I immediately replied, "that is everything I look for in a movie". Taken fit the violence factor without a lot of blood I might add. It doesn't have to be gory for me to like it, just lots of action.

I thought the dragon lady's (forgot her name) acting was pretty good, not the best, but decent.

You could say Toad's performance was subpar or that it was really good as he was trying to portray a shy, awkward introvert-like teenager.

Either way, I didn't really mind.
