Had to call the fire department last night

    Some people just get excessive.

Fiiiiiiiiiiine. Had a birthday party last night. 54 years old and I had to have one candle for each year.

Blowing out those candles (after making my wish of course) literally set off the fire alarm.

When my father reached 50, he strictly forbade anyone to dare present him with a cake with all the candles on it. Personally, I think he was fearful of losing his eyebrows and setting off the fire alarm. Dad was right! Ha!

Happy birthday, bub. Have a fire-breathin' day ... once you scrape up all the frosting from the carpet.

At least for one day this winter you didn't have to turn the heat on in the house!

Even funnier is the metal tongs on the box of matches so no one cooked their hand lighting the candles.

Some years back in honor of Mom's 65th birthday I drafted a nice little letter for her.
I went to the local fire departments web page and screen captured the page to be used as stationary and typed up a nice letter stating that in honor of the occasion they would be on "stand-by" in case of any incidents of fire due to the large amount of candles involved.
I printed it out and it really did look official and mailed it to her using the fire departments return address.
She got the best laugh out of it, but didn't know who the "intelligent rectum" who sent it was until I confessed a week or two later.
