gun store owner
i've read about various gun store owners being cantankerous, gruff, standoffish, and downright rude. here's a new one.
one of my local shops(www.guns4u.net) now has a new set of rules, effective 7-30-06.
if you haven't bought a certain number of guns, have a discount card already, or are there with a "member" it will cost you $50.00 per 1/2 hour to look at or talk guns.
of course $50.00 of that is refundable if you buy a gun within 5 days. what a crock of ....
needless to say he just lost 4 customers. me, the wife, my neighbor, and his son.
i keep hearing margins on new guns are low, but i hope no other dealers jump on this bandwagon. and people wonder why the gun crowd is generally looked down on by most, not all, people. how many other businesses charge just to browse? none i know of. rant off

Sounds like someone needs to take a marketing class or find a new attitude on life. Treating people well is something that should come naturally but i guess, "should" doesnt really apply in this day and age.

I carry because I care.

My local merchant of death gets my business because he believes in what he does and enjoys it.
If you don't like dealing with guns and people all day, do something else. I doubt anyone has ever become rich owning or working in the gun vending business. It's one of those things I can only imagine someone doing because they enjoyed it.

the other stores in the area seem to appreciate the fact that i come in their stores. i do compare prices but i'm not going to walk out because i can get whatever i'm looking for $10.00 cheaper someplace else.
one of the higher priced places greets me or the wife on a first name basis and gave us some glock stocking dealer shirts (i know it's blasphemous, easy bruce) when we walked in one day just to look around.
maybe the market forces (sudden drop in sales) will make this guy change his mind. its too late to get me back in there. i'm going where i'm appreciated.

Refundable or not - sheesh!
Imagine other stores applying such idiocy - they might as well file chapter 11 straight away
Part of business is customer relations - including ''win some - lose some'' - oh well - hope this will prove to them a resounding ''lose some'' - unless I am interpretting wrong!

Maybe he's gonna "charge" everyone but not collect, therefore calling it a "loss" on his tax return.

I used to have a beautiful K98 Bob - but couldn't get it over here when I moved.
No - I am sticking to that Parker Hale sighted target MkIV - but think it may be a long time before one comes along.
