Do guys really want to be with a woman who shoots?

Reading about EricGr7's new girlfriend who is into guns made me think.

where are you guys that are interested in a woman who likes guns? Let me know, I'd like to find one of you!

I have guns, I have CCW, I have a house in the country with an area where I have my own little range, I am not in debt, I have a job - I don't even have any children to complicate things --- and I can't meet anyone!

I went to a grass roots 2nd amendment meeting last weekend - alone - gave a little talk that people liked... and no men talked to me interested!

Maybe I should be hanging out in Walmart's empty ammo aisle....

    Waaaaaaa!!!!!

Geeeshh... I even shot a groundhog a couple days ago! Every man's dream - right?

I think it's a myth that guys like women "into" guns. I think, actually, guys can find it bit threatening. Really -- I am not trying to start something... I mean it. More guys back away when it comes up that I shoot than act interested. Maybe not "gun-nut" guys, but "regular" guys for sure.

But, then, I am not 22 or built like Angelina Jole.... Heck, even when I was 22 I wasn't built like Angelina! Who is in real life? I'd like a man built like LaBron James too, but ain't gonna happen....

You guys dream about living with someone like LimaTunes -- but would you REALLY want to be with a woman who knows as much about guns and shoots as well as you do?

    Inquiring minds want to know.....

Maybe we should start a new "Personals" forum for single DC members.

Hey Primal, don't sweat it. I stayed single til I was 43 (OK guys high five me here). Ya gotta wait for the right one and it can take time.

My wife of 33 years can outshoot me, otherwise I'd be interested!

Good luck - personally, you sound like a easy keeper!

    Yes!

A gal like Lima or Brigid would be just the woman for me.

    PrimalScream,

You asked a very good question indeed.

To answer your question.. I really don't know about others.
Sure we can say "yes" but what if this is your only hobby
and way for you to get out and have personal time.

Are you a bowler? would you want your wife to be there
every night when you are out bowling with your friends and
having so called guy time with your buds?

As for me I think its pretty neat to have someone to share
in something I enjoy very much.

My favorite shooting partner is my 21-year-old daughter. We've been going out since she was five. Now I'm single. If you think it's hard to find a man to go shooting with, try to find a woman! Every time I invite someone, they think I'm Charles Manson. Here's my baby from last weekend with her G19 and MP5...

AZ, now that is the kind of daughter I would like to have!

Congratulations on having something to share with her.

Maybe it's just a thing that women are not "supposed" to do...

Such as, I am a good cook, would I want to be with a guy who would take over my kitchen and show up my best cookies or my best pot roast? Hmmmmm

Sounds good, but when push really comes to shove, I am not sure...

A lot of guys, myself included, would be ecstatic to find a woman who enjoys shooting, owns guns, etc. The girl I'm currently seeing likes guns and, as icing on the cake, has a fairly solid martial-arts background (I have watch myself )

On the other hand, there are a lot of guys who, while they'll never acknowledge it, are going to be "threatened" or intimidated by a woman who is skilled in a discipline that is traditionally considered to be a "man's game."

I'd much rather buy Ed Browns than Prada!
Thanks Primal...she's my pride and joy. It means so much that a daughter would want to go out shooting with her Dad instead of hanging with her friends. It would mean just as much if a partner wanted to do the same thing. I think there are many more men that would welcome a shooting date than women who would be interested in going on one.

I would love it if I could get my wife to go shoot with me. Hell I'd love it if she would go shooting period!

I think for me you posted 15 years too late.

    Sorry Darling.

Primal, guys aren't intimidated by people that shoot, own guns, or are good at anything unless they have fragile egos themselves, and I've found those quite few in the shooting world.

Most guys I've met through shooting are frankly, simply in relationships, married or otherwise. But that's not why I shoot and that shows. And because I'm not there to "meet" someone more people DO talk to me. I'm approachable because I have no agenda in being there other then seeing how much brass I can spend and then pick off the floor to take home.

Do things because YOU WANT TO. Not because you think you'll meet someone. The harder you look the less you will see. You might be surprised who is right under your nose looking for a prize like yourself.
