When are they going to ban CARS???

When will they ban cars? When is the Alcohol industry going to held responsible for the actions of the DUIers of this world? The question I have is in light of what happened to Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart.

His car was struck by a minivan and killed. The perp was a drunk driver who had a suspended license. Due to a previous DUI, the punk then runs from the scene and is picked up approx 1/2 hour later. He killed 3 people and seriously injured another.

This happens on a daily basis but I don't see Pelosi or her goons trying to ban cars. Why???

Bad deal for sure. The world is a nasty place sometimes....well, most of the time. I saw the wrecked vehicles, and from the outside, the damage really didn't strike me as being lethal under most circumstances. I'm sure California has a seat belt law, and I know this might be a mute point......but in my opinion, I don't think anyone was wearing seat belts. We might not ever get a full report on that, but I can't help but think there should have been survivors if seat belts were in use (by law). I'm with you on the drunk driver thing, and I've gotten many off the streets with a simple phone call. My state has a three strikes law on this as well as many other crimes. I used to have a next door neighbor who actually got send to the state pen........after his fifth DWI and his third occurrence he had rear ended a lady and her son and run them off the road. There is something wrong with the system, and it's everywhere.

They are working their way towards banning cars... at least the ones that I like driving! (read: SUV's, trucks, gas guzzlers)

It won't happen. Socialists like their cars. They might make us pay for carbon credits to help relieve our guilt.

This question bothers me. Why should the alcohol industry be held responsible for the consumers bad behavior. Responsible drinking in and of itself is not an issue. When people abuse it, it is their own PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for what they do. No one force fed them alcohol and made them drive an automobile. It was a choice and a stupid one at best.

With your premise gun manufacturers are responsible when someone uses a gun illegally.

After reading your post again, maybe this is the point you are trying to make also in a different way.

Exactly my point the gun grabbers all want the gun industry held accountable, They are all alcoholics and wineo's see the point they don't want to touch the industries they support or have some type of envolvement with. IE I think Nancy Pelosi owns or is part owner of a vineyard.

I think they should ban saws to save the trees!

I think they should ban computers to keep the porn out!

I think they should ban ATVs so they don't attack people!

I think they should ban food because we are too fat!

I think they should ban marijuana plants so they don't influence the other plants growing near them!

I think they should ban tires because they can stain the roads!

I think they should ban Twinkies because no one can understand how they are made!

I think they should ban knives so they are not attracted to large magnets and suddenly go flying through the air killing people!

I think they should ban dogs 'cuz sometimes they bite people!

I think they should ban Nintendo Wii so all the fat kids don't die of a heart attack with all that moving around! And so people in their 40s don't throw out their backs while swinging a fake golf club!

And above all, they NEED to ban free speech so morons like me cannot waste your time!

You forgot that pens are responsible for writing bad checks.

We will be much better off when we learn to deal with things as they really are, instead of how we wish them to be!

37,313 people died in motor vehicles in 2008. That's nearly 105 dead every day . 4.375 people every hour. Think about it.

"If pistachios and spinach killed 50 people in a month, they'd be pulled by the FDA!"

Oh? Do pistachios and spinach also save people from crime and violent death millions of times every year?

It's a blatant non sequitur. Poisoned food causes illness and injury by its own properties. A gun requires an operator. If we follow this logic, we should be arrested guns, and not the person who uses them.
