horrible just horrible
This is a discussion on 911 Operator hangs up repeatedly on caller. within the Off Topic & Humor Discussion forums, part of the The Back Porch category; horrible just horrible...
I can understand being exasperated at a caller who keeps swearing. The caller should have been much clearer and less foul-mouthed, IMO.
He should be "encouraged" to retire now that he has his 20 in...
Do you really think it would be OK to hang up on someone because they said a bad word? Really? How about: "Holy s***! They are shooting people in the lunch room! OH s***! Oh S*** people are dying! Please help!" Should you hang up on that call? Give me a break!
News flash. People call 911 during emergencies and sometimes when folks are really, really frightened or excited they might not say nice things or speak clearly. Try to walk a mile in that girls shoes before you criticize her.

The government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a
patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.
Yup, that's part of being a professional - take the high road and get the job done despite the client's lack of etiquette, morals, hygiene, etc. Considering that someone may only have once chance to call, hanging up on them is beyond inexcusable - how about interfering with emergency personal, preventing someone from contacting 911, and some jail time?
I think, and rightfully so, the family will be getting their own personal "stimulus" package.
Officer makes 60K and gets 2 week of unpaid vacation, like that'll hurt a lot.
The first part of the settlement check should come from the LEO's retirement acct.
An ounce of lead is worth 200lbs of cop.
I agree that the officer shouldn't have to put up with that abusive language. He should inform his employer of exactly that while turning in his two week notice. There are others jobs out ther where he wont have to listen to foul language.
What fantasy world do you people live in where police officers' virgin ears are unsullied by crude language?
If my dad was flopping around on the floor like a beached carp, and a 911 dispatcher kept hanging up on me, my language would be the least of his troubles.
The dispatcher is an ass.
If he can't tolerate profanity, he needs to go work in a daycare with 2-year-olds, or else build widgets by himself in his basement alone.
Profanity is understandable when someone's family member is thought to be dying.
And then he turns right around and calls her a "stupid ass"?
That officer got off too easy. Just 2 weeks off and extra training? I would have fired his butt so fast that he would be home before he knew what happened.
That cop needs to be fired for that. Under no circumstances is it okay for a dispatcher to refuse to help and hang up on a caller during an emergency. And insulting and calling her names is just about as unprofessional as you can get. And then he LIED about how it really happened? I don't care what the girl is saying, that cop needs to swallow his ego and do his job.
I know if my dad was lying on the floor dying and the dispatcher repeatedly hung up on me, the words coming out of my mouth would probably make this girl look like an angel.
