    Argentina's Economic Collapse: SHTF

    - Part 1 of 12
    YouTube - Argentina's Economic Collapse - Part 1 of 12

I know some say something like this can't happen here... but I don't think they read up on much history... if the Rodny King beating could have lead to the LA riots, why not?
An interesting look on a SHTF economic collapse happening in Argentina, and I personally been trying to get as much information on those who lived through it, there is something to learn here.

The closest thing to this I have personally experence was the 1999 Gas riots in Jamaica (background info here with pics http://www.j-zone.com/riots/pictures/) where just about every city in the country was rioting and looting was common... they burned cars and shops etc, and I remembered when my dad had to defend himself from a mob of pissed off angry people (some with knives and bats etc)who came towards us after he had moved some of the road blocks (old junk in the street) when he came to pick me up from school... that night had gun battles on the streets too, for 2 days I could hear the shooting from the hill top where I lived. All this happened within a VERY short time too, a few days at most of the rise in gas taxes they curropt government wanted, but all this stuff only lasted a few days, Argentina's situation was significantly longer.

    SURVIVING IN ARGENTINA

Watching the OP's vids (about 5-6 minutes each) will put to rest the idea that a SHTF scenario couldn't possibly happen here.

I think the idea that some cataclysmic event will trigger TEOTWAWKI is far less likely than a gradual and desperate descent into "disasters" (man-made in all likelihood) which will become more and more frequent and more and more severe, a la Argentina.

To think I was considering buying an estancia in Argentina.

I studied some history though, and was somewhat familiar with the ups and downs of their politics and financial history. Hence, I stayed home. Now I'll have to look at retiring down under and living on my wife's little farm.

Oh well, that's a ways off yet. Lots can happen between now and then.

Yea, I think it just seems that way... I NEVER use to look into these things like world events and history etc (unless it was military history), but ever since Obama I feel as if I was sleeping and now I am starting to actually open my eyes. Hell, I should have opened my eyes years before him but I was more concerned playing video games.

I was following that blog for a few weeks. He's got some good advice as far what to watch for and how to prepare for hard times. I didn't go nuts with it but I did start keeping a little extra stash of the things we normally use anyway: Tea, coffee, rice, beans, emergency cash, etc.. I rotate the dry goods each time I buy more so at the very least, we could skip a few weeks to a month or more of buying and not run out.

I'd still like to get 15 or 20 acres out in the country though: Someplace to hunt, maybe build a small cabin and just get away from "Little Tijuana" for awhile.
