Here's a little something from Down Under

Took this from another fourm....I found a link to the magizine, but not the article.

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week, which I quote:

"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.
The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: "The US should pull out of Washington."
"Just getting a concealed carry permit means you haven't commited a crime yet. CCP holders commit crimes." Daniel Vice, senior attorney for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, quoted on Fox & Friends, 8 Jul, 2008

I fully agree! We should use some of the fence destined for the Mexican border and fence the s### hole off.

    I'll second that.

Does that take into account the following ?

    - Regular citizens dont wear body armour
    - Regular citizens dont have a medic following them
    - Doctors per 100,000 ?
    - Access to helicopters for transport to hospital

The stats are interesting though, and might mean something.

Wow. That's some pretty sobering information.

There was 2112 shot and killed in Iraq?

Sounds more like it includes those killed with IEDs.

    No IEDs in DC.

Most likely IEDs, another thing to consider is how many injured ?. At face value the stats are indeed an eye opener.

But still we can rest assured that even by state to state comparison the argument is lost by the left, gun control does not reduce gun deaths or gun crime.
