Back in the eighties, I did a lot of traveling for my job. It was not unusaual to be on the plane with any of the Von Erics (not their real name). Gentleman Chris Adams, Bruiser Brody, any of the Freebirds or even Rick Flair.

I do have to say that off stage, all but the Freebirds were really nice people. Got to spend several hours in Lubbock, TX talking with Rick Flair and his body guard. Both were gentlemen and really funny to talk to.

Even had the priviledge of assisting in the medical care of one of the Von Erics during a lengthy hospital stay. All the members of that family are extremely nice. Was so sad to see their lives end so tragically as they did.

    Old time?!?!
I used to watch a Black and White TV when I stayed with my Grandparents in the late 1960's.

I remember the three of us watching Bruno Sammartino and some others.

My Grandparents would yell at the TV and get upset because some wrestler was cheating. I was like 9 years old and said to them "You do understand this is fake don't you?"

My Dear Grandmother "Nanna" then smacked me in the head with a wooden spoon, then picked me up and body slammed me on the floor of the single wide and yelled "Does that feel fake to you? You little pissant!" She then tagged my Grandfather "Pop-pop" and he did an elbow drop to my kidney!
Child abuse laws were a little less strict back in the day.

I learned not to open my mouth when watching wrestling.
    Ahhh such sweet memories.

Just kidding about the abuse part. But they really did think it was real.

I remember years ago my dad telling me when we visited with his dad that I should not bother Grandpa when Channel 7 (Evansville, Ind.) wrestling came on and under no circumstances even think about saying it was not real........

And he was always teamed with Nikolai Volkoff, and Volkoff would sing the Russian national anthem before the match...

OMG, I can't believe I remember some of those things.

A blast from the past! I remember the Junk Yard Dog. I also remember some guy who wore cowboy boots turned up at the end, and squared off maybe.

Those matches would come on anytime between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. I spent many a Sundays groggy at church because of wrestling!
