I was driving my company vehicle down Gobbler st in Floral City FL and noticed a woman walking on the side of the road with a vehicle following her closely. I slowly pulled up to where the woman was and she tried to flag me down to give her a ride, i'm not supposed to have passengers in my company vehicle that aren't affiliated with the company per company policy so i passed her up. I then noticed in my rear view mirror that the woman started to run away from the vehicle that was following her. I couldn't feel comfortable with myself knowing that she might have been in trouble and like any one else would do.....i think, i turned around. I then noticed that the gentleman that was following her was screaming at her and started chasing her. I then pulled up as fast as i could with the gentleman well behind her she hopped into my vehicle and locked the door. It was at that point i got her side of the story. She told me that the gentleman was her step father and he wanted to hurt her for some reason or another. I didn't want to get involved in that aspect and i'm already involved enough. So i took my cell phone out and called 911, i told the officer where i was and told him to meet me at the corner of Gobbler and us41 where a circle k gas station was. The gentleman followed me for some time when suddenly he turned off. I met the officer at the gas station and handed the woman over to his custody, the officer then asked for my name and where i lived and what not. I told the officer everything i could to help out and then told the officer that i was attending police academy in july. The officer told me that he knew the head instructor at WTI (the votec school the academy is in) and would put in a good word for me and what i did to help them out. Whether or not he does put a good word for me or not it feels good when you can help someone out. There is too many people in this world that will turn the other cheek and walk away. I'm not one of them!

I'm not criticizing you, but be extremely careful when getting involved in domestic disputes.

Seasoned officers are often killed when doing this, even with all their training and awareness.
