For you .45 lovers out there. Just found this story on
    another board

For the record I am a 1911 and .45 nut!

I shot a skunk today, hit it at about 30 yards with 230gr FMJ- The round struck the rump and was followed by a straight stream of yellow stink that stretched what seemed like 15 feet (all take note of range) He didn't die! He started hobbling away... I walked up within 10 or 15 yards and shot him again, a hit, he still didn't die... He just laid there, writhing in pain. I got up close and shot him in the head to put him out of his misery...

3 230 grain shots- I guess stopping power comes in the way of a HP

    Just passing on the info-

Three letters - FMJ. Wonder what would have happened had it been a Hydra Shok.

Any animal can take multiple hits and not immediately die regardless of caliber. Deer shot with HP or SP rifle rounds through teh heart still run sometimes before dropping. Unless it's a head shot (CNS) blood loss is what stops the animal.

I've shot skunks before & even with hollow points if you don't hit them correctly you will end up stinky!

(I even shot a racoon with .38 shot shells & all it did was tick him off!)

I'm remembering the movie "Things to do in Denver when you're Dead" - anyone heard of "buckwheats"?

    I wouldn't hunt flies with a .38 shotshell, never mind a racoon.

Nothing dies quick from a hole in the wrong place. You need to practice more.
