    Post Dial Up

Actually...early this morning when I was on Dial Up...it was actually OK...a tad bit slow but, then....later on in the afternoon ~ it slowed down worse than frozen molasses.

I had to just get off 'cause it was SO Damn Slow....it was driving me nuts.

    What the hell is dial-up????

Ever since I went to college waaaaaay back in '99 and I had relatively high speed I vowed never to go back, and I haven't.

I'm on Broadband now, but here in 2 weeks, will be moving to a rural area in WA state, and then will only have dial-up, maybe. If not, then will have to invest into satellite, which using Directway, is about $60 per month, plus $600 inital investment into equipment. Yikes.. if my wife does consulting, then that will pay for the satellite.

It's all relative. There was a time when a 4.77 MHz PC allowed us to do so much more than we did by hand. Now, our base configuration is over 2 GHz. I still use a 56k modem at home, but because of dated hardware in the phone companies switch, I only get a max of 24k connection. Going high-speed would cost more than twice what I pay for internet service, right now. And the slow connection discourages my daughters from spending every waking moment on-line.
