    Mean Spirited and Unfunny

I've never found David Letterman funny and seldom watch him. His recent joke about Sarah Palin's daughter however was nothing short of mean spirited. I'm no fan of Palin and I feel she deserves a fair amount of the slag she gets but her family, a young girl, shouldn't be exploited for the sake of a cheap laugh even by a lowbrow like Letterman.

I like Sarah Palin... she does a difficult job with competence and grace, then punches out, drives her Bronco home, and has dinner with the kids... she somehow seems far more "grounded" than just about any other politician I can name.

Is she the sharpest philosophic mind in the Republican party...? No...

But she sure pisses off all the right people...

I have always considered David Letterman a low life slimeball.

I wrote a letter to the late show producers and their network demanding his firing; After all:

    1) Don Imus made a tasteless comment about some female basketball players who were young adults (over 18) and was fired and excoriated in the media.

    2) Clayton Williams had the Texas governorship locked up until he made remarks regarding women getting raped and lost the election to Ann Richards.

    3) Jamie Foxx made extremely derrogatory remarks about Miley Cyrus, advising her to get into pornography and he was "just joking".

The difference between these instances and people? Letterman and Foxx are big-time libs, the other 2 were conservatives. I also made mentiion of the fact that while their news outlets consider criticism and tough questions from Talk radio hosts like Rush, Glenn and Sean vicious "vitriol", none of what these men say ever goes after anyone's family or ever gets personal. They stick to the issues pure and simple, and the kind of character shown in governing.

I am eagerly awaiting a reply from them, which I will gladly post if it ever arrives. I am not keeping my fingers crossed.....

She deserves nothing she's received, and Idiot letterman (not capitalized) is/has been/and always will be...a poor excuse for a comedian.
I wonder why he doesn't joke about Obama's kids?

I'm from Alaska, I have lots of friends IN Alaska, and Gov. Palin is highly respected. She has not been involved with any corruption, she has sustained a positive-flow budget since taking office, and some of the ex-political 'corrupt Alaskan state leaders hate her...and rightly should...she got rid of many of them.
She enjoys very high ratings, possible the highest for any gov in the country...could it be that she's an honest politician?
The rest of the political world sees her as a direct threat to their "good ole' boy ways".
Every time I think of how the media protrayed her and then I hear our present VP speak...

I dare not get too political...just a reflective comment to your post.

    Respectfully shared, of course.

It really was a mean joke, if you can call it that. If he had made that comment about Chelsea Clinton, the outrage would have been deafening!

Letterman says he was talking about the 18 year old, not the 14 year old... but the 18 year old wasn't in New York with her...

Kids should be out of bounds... I don't recall Chelsea Clinton, Amy Carter, or any other kids being targeted for attack... the Bush twins got a little, but nothing like Palin's kids...

And I think we can all guess how a joke about "knocking up" Sasha or Malia would go over...

God help the man who finds himself to be of interest to the media,
for they will use him untill they wear him out.
Then they will dump him under a moving steam roller just to see
how big of a smear his blood will make.
Now ,do you need to ask me how I feel about the media?

Book: "Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps."

What about the video tape of Biden's daughter snorting cocaine...? That story kinda fell off the map, huh...?

That was the first thought that came to my mind. Poor Imus was hung out to dry. Letterman deserves no less.

I am glad that we don't watch TV

What a dirt bag. Now I know why I never liked the guy. Children (no matter their parents political affiliation) should be off limits.

Governor Palin is certainly nice to look at. I've never been to Alaska and would not presume to debate her merits with Alaska people. My beef here is with Letterman. My opinion of him, (never high), has dropped considerably.
