I used to ride sport rockets,.. My last was a 04 R1,.. I got to many tickets, so I sold it and bought a Harley,. Now I see the beauty that this great state holds when I'm riding instead of just the road in front of me blasting by..

I prefer bikes that are a bit slower, but can take me down any goat trail I find.

I am SOOOO glad my son sold his CBR 600.

It seems like every week there's another news report of someone getting killed on a motorcycle.

I have an "Ultra" (Harley), my wife has a "Road King".
As another poster said, now I can enjoy the scenery.
Three years ago, we rode back from Sturgis SD to West Palm Beach FL,
2500+ miles mostly by the 2 lane roads.
We took our time visiting, it changed my perception of this great country; I'm not an emotional guy but the "Homestead National Monument" in Kansas close to "Council Grove" really gave me goose bumps !!!

I'm from a ways back when every body rode British bikes like Norton and Triumph. Rode an Indian also.

Years and years back motorcycles became quite the rage at my office.

Sadly, my colleague was riding his one evening when a truck pulling a flatbed trailer pulled in front of him. He apparently misjudged and thought that he just needed to clear the truck, not seeing the flatbed as it was night and the side of the trailer wasn't lit. Poor guy tried to lay his bike down and slide under at the last second; and left his brains on the asphalt.

Next day our wives took our toys away.

I'm glad your son sold his bike. They are fun, but not worth the risk.

Please make sure you guys wear your helmets and safety gear when you ride, just as you would wear ear and eye protection at the range!

In February of 2008 I took a spill on a bike and ended up with a broken neck. They were able to perform fusion surgery and fix the neck, but the neurosurgeons who worked on me assured me that had I not worn my helmet, I would not be sitting here typing this today......

Luckily, I suffered no paralysis or pain, but things could have been much, much worse.
