    Once again, I'm laid up

Well I'm glad I kept the cane from when I tore my calf last Dec. because last night while sparring in TKD I tore my MCL in my left knee. Dang side step to a round house to my opponent's stomach took me out.

If it ain't one thing its another. People keep telling me to slow down because I'm getting older. I tell them I am only 35 and "slow down" is not in the Parrish vocabulary. Plus with my family history I am in my mid life and need to live it up.

Just for the record, this time I was doing something cool and not simply running across the street to get a hamburger.

Just venting because now I will be out of TKD for a few weeks (2 or 3) and it just pisses me off more than the pain.

At age 35 I was bullet proof. That didn't last. It only gets worse Paco. On the bright side though, many of us do get wiser.

Hope you get better soon. Only 2-3 weeks with a torn MCL?... you're lucky. Hope it doesn't need surgery.

    Medial or lateral miniscus tear?

My son tore his MCL in wrestling. The orthopedic surgeon removed the part that was torn (orthoscopic surgery). He was back to wrestling in 3 weeks and went on to the State championships.

Not exactly sure yet, I go for my MRI tomorrow.

I grossed my Dr. out when I told him I put my knee cap back in place, $15 co pay is better than a $50 ER co pay. He looked at me funny when I told him that.

    Hopefully your recovery is short.

Wow. You really jacked it up.

Once you dislocate your knee cap, it won't take much to do it again in the future.

Sorry to hear that, Paco. That really sucks.

Paco, best of luck on a quick recovery. You are still plenty young - I'm double that plus 6.:)
Its a shame that youth is wasted on the young.

Hope the MRI gives you good news and you make a speedy recover!

Physical Therapy has done wonders for my knee since the dislocation/surgery.

Did you hear a pop? I was facing north and my knee went east. It took over a year to heal on its own, well heal enough to be able to walk without favoring it.

    Hope your recovery is faster!

Don't lie, you made up the knee story so you could take time off from work to properly mourn Micheal Jackson.....j/k.

    Hope you get well soon.
