Ananova - Luxury yachts offer pirate hunting cruises
Luxury ocean liners in Russia are offering pirate hunting cruises aboard armed private yachts off the Somali coast.
Wealthy punters pay £3,500 per day to patrol the most dangerous waters in the world hoping to be attacked by raiders.
When attacked, they retaliate with grenade launchers, machine guns and rocket launchers, reports Austrian business paper Wirtschaftsblatt.
Passengers, who can pay an extra £5 a day for an AK-47 machine gun and £7 for 100 rounds of ammo, are also protected by a squad of ex special forces troops.
The yachts travel from Djibouti in Somalia to Mombasa in Kenya.
The ships deliberately cruise close to the coast at a speed of just five nautical miles in an attempt to attract the interest of pirates.
"They are worse than the pirates," said Russian yachtsman Vladimir Mironov. "At least the pirates have the decency to take hostages, these people are just paying to commit murder," he continued.

"Just getting a concealed carry permit means you haven't commited a crime yet. CCP holders commit crimes." Daniel Vice, senior attorney for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, quoted on Fox & Friends, 8 Jul, 2008

You know. I actually am shocked at myself, but I think this is a very bad idea. Its pretty much just like the russian official said "these people are just paying to commit murder". Protecting your self is one thing, but looking to find BG's to kill them is murder. Paul Kersey they arnt.
I know not what this "overkill" means.
Honing the knives, Cleaning the longguns, Stocking up ammo.

It's murder, plain and simple. We wouldn't let people pay to be the executioner. Administrating death isn't entertainment, it's a sobering responsibility in very rare circumstances.
Now, if a government were patrolling the waters with a policy of violence against pirates, I'd be ok with it.
Crime should be outlawed.

all fun and games until the Somalis happen to get the upper hand, then what?..
"time out".
But I do believe cargo ships should be armed, and pirates be warned. Yarrrr!
I don't deal with psychos. I put them away.

If they were getting paid to do it ,no problem, paying to do it IMO makes it murder.
This will only last until a bunch of them get killed. The pirates are scum but they do shoot back.

I'm still waiting for the government to start paying me to take cruises around Somalia so I can be a pirate hunter, there's always hope, right?

Letter of marque? Then maybe. Have not heard much about pirates lately. Perhaps the victim ships are getting better at situational awareness.

I have no problem with it. The pirates need to be killed and I do not much care who does it or how, if a bunch of people want to pay for the privlage fine by me.

If they don't attack they have nothing to worry about.Shooting someone who is attacking you is self defense.
