    Here's some more interesting numbers:

    500 gal. propane tank - $1100
    400 gal LP (max for 500 gal tank) $1.649/gal = $660

10.5kW gen. w/honda GX-620 engine consumes 2.2 gal/hr at full load. And of course it's going to be less at lighter loads but the distributor only had the full load consumption.

The real problem is that the gen. is going to run constantly whether power is needed or not. I imagine there are "on-demand" units that start up and shut off by power demand, but I suspect they'd be more expensive.

    Here's something else:

I found this thread after I read and posted in the "Group Think! Duration of SHTF!" thread in this same Forum.

You might check out this Web Site to get info on many different generators, including the "tri-fuel" models.

In Florida, prolonged periods without electrical power is not just a possiblity, but a probability. I'm trying to work up a plan right now.

The Kerosene Refrigerators work wonderful... I am currently in the process of equipping the house that I am moving my Family to in the next 18 months, It will have a kerosene refer & will use solar & wind generators, will be completely off the grid except for Satelite internet.

I wont have any umbilicle cords at all. & will be totally dependent on what I can produce myself if needed,

Yes I am strange......... But I would rather depend on my own planning then the governments.!
Stupidity cannot be cured with money, or through education, or by legislation. Stupidity is not a sin, the victim can't help being stupid. But stupidity is the only universal capital crime; the sentence is death, there is no appeal and execution is carried out automatically and without pity.
