Where can I rent a flatbed or cargo trailer?

I'm changing duty stations from San Diego to Ft Worth TX. I need a trailer that I can fit my jeep into/onto, along with a sportbike and a dirtbike. It's gonna have to be a 6' wide trailer, and at least 14 feet long. I can deal with having the military move my dirtbike. I wouldn't mind having a flatbed since it would be easy. Roll the jeep up, roll the bike up, strap 'em down, hook it up to my silverado, load the truck up with household goods, and take off. Have the military move the rest.

Uhaul doesn't have a big enough trailer. Hertz has enclosed 6x14 double axle and 8x16 single axle. Not sure if the single axle will hold my jeep and bike or not. I also don't know if Hertz Equipment Rental will let me rent it here and return it in TX.

I've checked out Ryder, Penske, Uhaul, Hertz, and Budget.

I'd buy a trailer, but I don't have $3000 sitting around for one. Anyone know where else I can look that will let me pick up in CA and drop off in TX?

The Navy moved me from San Diego to Dallas and did a great job. If I were you, I would consider having the military move all of it. Just my .02.

Why don't you just drive the jeep and rent a smaller trailer if you don't want the military to move you? If it is because you have to drive something else, a few of my friends have had somebody else drive behind them and pay for the plane ticket back.

I've thought about that. I could get a small cargo trailer and put all my junk in it along with my Silverado. My buddy said he'd drive the jeep behind me if I flew him back, but it seems like it would cost a lot of gas money.

Sometimes, having a bunch of vehicles as a single guy can be a pain :(

If someone drove the jeep though, I could definitely do a complete DITY move.

Based on how much stuff you have, it sounds like you can make out pretty good on a DITY move. The airlines are hurting, and you might be able to score a pretty good deal.

One thing, don't book over the internet, get a price over the internet and then call the airline directly. Military discount and extenuating circumstances can cut that ticket price in half.

I think you could make more money doing the DITY move, but it is not nearly as convenient as having the military move you.

And an early, Welcome back to Texas, to you.

Money is more important than convenience right now. Driving 2 vehicles, I probably won't make much profit though. Thanks for the tip on the airlines!

I miss Texas...can't wait to go back!!!

Did you consider renting a towbar and just pulling the jeep behind the truck?

You might look on craigs list for a trailer. You will not have any trouble selling it in the DFW area, probably at a profit.
