    Just thought those of you north of the Mason-Dixon line would get a laugh outta this - our first snow for the year!

    We truly have some bad drivers down here - Snow? Ice? Why slow down?

    We should give winter driving classes up here! Its not the speed, its stopping and starting !

    Personally I wouldn't plow or sand the roads - - "and thus decrease the surplus population"

    Gee officer, I didn't realize that talking on my phone, drinking coffe, reading, and driving 85 during a snow storm was dangerous?

    Haha - I have always heard about the ''TX syndrome" - it is not perhaps too different from what happens in UK sometimes - 1/2" or so of snow and everything grinds to a halt - wrecks everywhere too!

    It is true tho - probably the biggest problem is caused by a lack of appreciation of the change in ''mu'' - the coefficient of friction!!!

    <crunch - ouch - oops - sorry!>

    Actually with the right tires (emphasis on good tires), 4 wheel antilock, the extra weight, and the 4X4 mine will, and has. Been 4 wheeling in Mi for over 10 years and it is not a chalenge untill the snow is at leat 24" deep and don't bother slowing down for any thing less than 8" of wet snow. Then there was this time when I was in DC a few years back they shut down the city for a lousy 2". Just one more, there was the time when it was raining and it was 18 degrees out, now that was not a good day to drive into work.
