Identity Theft Warning-ex DEC, Compaq, HP Employees
Just an off-topic warning to any other ex-DEC, ex-Compaq, ex-HP employees!
Just got an overnight UPS letter from Fidelity Investments advising me that a laptop was stolen on 3/15/06 which contains the personal info (name, address, SSN, DOB, etc.) of all former employees of the above companies.
Questions? Call 800-414-4015.
They will also offer you to setup a Customer ID to be used INSTEAD of your SSN. This could be helpful to avoid future potential problems as more personal data gets stolen.

I know it sounds like an infomercial, but believe me . . .
"Lawyers are standing by!" just call their 800 number and they are salivating waiting for victims to step forward for a massively successful class action suit! ["Massively successful" means the lawyers will make a fortune! Victims will get scraps!]
What bugs my ass is that I left DEC in December 1992, haven't even contacted Fidelity about my pension plan, so I am "an archive member", yet some bozo had all my personal info on a laptop!!?? That "inactive data" should all be stored ONLY on the companies (hopefully somewhat secure) servers, not wandering around the countryside!
